So I decided I will go to Animazement.
The problem with Animazement is that the best segment of the con is the guest meet & greet. It’s free (unlike most other cons) and all you have to do is pre-register and show up on Thursday night at 7pm. Sounds easy unless it’s an 8-hour drive from where you live. That means I have to skip work Thursday and no way to make it back on Friday.
Considering my current ICLE course load, my patent bar exam coming up on May 20 (although I suppose I can reschedule it to the 25…that Thursday), it’s pushing things a little. The good thing is it’ll be all over by then, except ICLE homework. I mean, wth right, homework? Ugh.
The boon about going to Animazement is that it’s the cheapest con ever. I spend about as much as I would for Otakon and I would get almost half a room to myself! That’s awesome. Now if Alex would drive something more fuel efficient, we’re gold.
As an aside I can probably score plane tickets and pay only as much as $250 or so, after tax and fee, right now. Considering I will probably pay about $100 on gas and tolls even when I’m carpooling 2/3 of the way, it’s a tempting alternative.
Supposedly the hotel Alex booked has free internet, so I can actually stay in and do work if I have to. Awesome.
